Ericka Watson
I am a freelance writer and web designer with a passion for travel, the sea and the web. I spent six years in the U.S. Coast Guard where I was fortunate to not only learn how to drive a boat during search and rescue missions, but also to have the opportunity to live and travel the East Coast, the West Coast, Puget Sound and even Cuba. Upon leaving the Coast Guard to pursue motherhood and a B.A. in Professional Writing from the New York Institute of Technology, I have gained experience in editing and writing for the web, corporate communications, blogging, web content management, and web design.
You can find me online as About.com’s Guide to Powerboating where I combine my experience and passion for boats, the sea and writing in a blog and dynamic web content that helps boaters make better decisions, solve the tasks, issues and challenges of boating with reliable, actionable information. I also write for Examiner.com as the Tampa Running Examiner where I cover all aspects of running in and around Tampa, FL.
My writing portfolio also includes a background in corporate communication for the St. Petersburg Times, a top ten newspaper, where I designed and managed the company intranet and internal communications program. I have also been an occasional guest blogger on whoaMomma!, a blog for mothers in the Tampa Bay, FL area.
